~ About Sauchuk Farm ~ |
Sauchuk Farm is a 75-acre diversified vegetable and small berry farm located in Plympton, Massachusetts. Scott Sauchuk, a trained geolgist and enviromental scientist, established the farm in 2000 on the site of the Samson homestead that had been farmed since the early eighteenth century. Most of our produce and flowers are sold directly to consumers at our farmstand. We practice integrated pest management (IPM). We do not grow certified organic produce, but we often use organic methods and sprays. Sauchuk Farm is growing rapidly while maintaining its reputation for high quality produce. In 2007, Sauchuk Farm introduced the first large-scale corn maze to the region south of Boston. This event draws more than 15,000 people to the farm each autumn. In 2008, Sauchuk Farm started a very popular CSA and constructed a new farmstand. In 2009, the size of the CSA was doubled and investments were made in field production. Mission Statement Sauchuk Farm strives to achieve the following goals within the economic constraints of a profitable business: 1. Always sell the freshest, best-tasting produce available anywhere, 2. Grow as much of our own produce as possible, 3. Adopt more sustainable and environmentally responsible agricultural practices, 4. Contribute resources to help those in need in our community, 5. Never seek or accept government farm payments, grants, or assistance of any kind, 6. Be a force to help preserve open space in the region. |
